Printed marketing is a great way to get your brand seen. However, with climate change being at the forefront of our minds, it’s important to think about how eco-friendly your printed marketing is.
We have put together our top tips to make your marketing eco-friendly.
1 – Give away items that will last
A lot of promotional items are thrown away after the event, but we think it’s important to give your clients items that they will keep for a long time and won’t end up in the landfill. Instead of giving a single-use plastic item, make sure the gift you give your clients is something that will last, such as a metal water bottle or a reusable coffee cup. Not only is it better for the environment but it also means your client will be using a product with your brand on it for longer!
2 – Buy products that are made from recycled materials
Make sure the items you buy have come from a material that’s been recycled, such as recycled plastic or paper. By buying recycled products, you’re completing the cycle and helping to reduce waste. You’re also making sure that less items are made from new materials, which saves on energy and resources.
3 – Buy products that have come from a renewable source
Make sure the items you buy have come from a renewable source, such as sugarcane, cotton, bamboo or paper. The faster the material can grow the better, as it uses less energy and water to produce. To take it one step further, make sure the material used is organic too, so that no harmful chemicals have been used to make it.
4 – Give away something edible
Giving away sweets and chocolate at events is another way to be more environmentally friendly, as your prospective customers will be eating your promotional product, creating no waste. Edible products are also a way to make a good impression, because everyone likes a sweet treat!
If you also stick to packaging that’s made from biodegradable materials or materials that can be recycled then there will be no waste at all.
However, if you’re worried about your brand message disappearing quickly, stick to confectionary jars made from a reusable material. Glass jars are a great example of this, as after your client has finished eating their sweet treat, they can use the jar to store office items on their desk and see your branding everyday.
5 – Buy UK made items
Sticking to items produced in the UK (or your respective country) drastically reduces your carbon footprint as the products won’t be shipped across the world. If this isn’t possible, sticking to items made in your continent still makes a big difference.
We have both a section on our website which shows items that are made in the UK, and a section which shows items from Europe.
We hope these tips help your next marketing campaign be more eco-friendly. Don’t forget that we’re here to help, so get in touch if you have any queries on our green products, or if you would like to chat about how we could help make your marketing more eco.
